Anyone have any comments on there ato and wavemaker?
Thinking about getting both. Would I be better with a reefkeeper light

I have heard good things on their ATO. I use a system from autotopoff.com which works well.

What kind of powerheads do you have? Do you have other things you want to control besides a wave maker? If so a RKL might work well.

I have both the Reefkeeper Lite and the Reefkeeper Elite. The Reefkeeper Lite is very easy to set up and controls everything I need including controllable powerheads, pH, Temp, ATO, Ca and Alk doser, etc. It was much easier to set up than the RKE unit and the only thing I noticed was that it only had one standby setting where as the RKE had many standby settings, if needed. Plus the RKL is at least $100 less.

but with the RKL, you are limited to 4 modules. no limit on the RKE. RKE is also extremely easy to setup. I have had both and LOVE my RKE.

I wanted to automate my tank a little. The rke is out my price range I only have one powerhead atm its a marineland 660.
The wavemaker comes with 2 500 gph powerheads and its 89.99. The ato is 75.99.
The rkl is 115. I figured I could get that and a ato for about the same price. Then wait for the powerheads. Does that sound ok or should I just get the jbl combos?

You could get the RKL, a float switch (double recommended), and an aqua lifter pump. That would allow you to control the ATO through the RKL rather than having another ATO controller with the JBJ. Just to consider and compare costs.

And then down thw road after u save some more, you can trade in the rkl head unit for a rke. I would do this.....

Does the pump have to be a aqualifter? Planned on using my 660 powerhead the same people that make the rkl.make. ato units I was gonna get that one.
What powerheads don't click hooked up to a rkl?

I suggested the aqua lifter for your ATO as a cheap example. You could use almost any pump for the ATO as long as the pump can handle the on/off cycling. As far as the powerheads hooking up to the RKL wavemaker that's not the problem. Anything can be hooked up...its just an on-off switch. The problem is that many powerheads don't like to be turned off and on frequently. So, you need to make sure you get controllable ones for the wavemaker. I have the Hydor Koralia Evolution pumps and they work good. I believe the Sicce pumps mentioned earlier would work good too.

I have four evolutions... They clicked, broke, and will run in reverse.
