JBJ nano cube modular surface skimmer?

Sweet, it looks a little hokey, and I've seen some do-dads of similar ilk be pieces of junk, such as the original CPR bubble trap so I wanted to make sure, it just holds itself in place? I dont feel that much draw from the flow vent, mebbe its enough.

It holds well. 2+ years and I think the only time it moved drastically was when a LARGE snail moved it or a nem grabbed it.

Cool, I ordered one but would you mind posting some pics? Any tips or tricks....or do you really just stick it on there and thats it?

Sorry I missed your reply. Yep, you just stick it up there and the water suction will hold it in place. You can move it up or down to adjust water levels in the rear chamber and also to avoid micro bubbles.

Micro bubbles arent a problem as I'm going skimmerless at least for now, small but freaquent water changes are the route I'm hoping to maintain.

I don't run a skimmer either, 2+ year old tank. IMO, regular water changes work just fine.

Got it today, insallation is a snap, though while it does help, doesnt eliminate all the scum as i'd hoped. Mebbe my flow pattern is hamperinging it, but the flow is just the way I want it....so....got my hydor blowing across the top pretty right at the SS...got good even flow through the whole tank without anything getting beaten to death so I wanna keep that way.

I guess I didnt quite understand you micro bubbles remark....I'm getting a ton of them no matter how I have it set, even cut some foam to try and stop them, no luck, any ideas?

whats the water level like in the return chamber? where are the micro bubbles coming from? i think this can be solved by adjusting the water level in your chambers if its just caused by turbulence.

well, the ony way it skims the surface well, is when its all the way up and the water level is faily low in the return, this causes alot of bubbles in the SS itself which I believe are the culprit if I remove the skimmer, no bubbles after a few days ,takes awhile for them to clear out. Also if I lower the SS, the tank level also drops well below the border
