Hi All,
Please read everything here first, I want to be as forthcoming as possible.
I bought this light with a tank locally. At the time the seller couldn’t find the light’s remote and moonlight power cord but said they would send it to me the week following. Well, I never got them. I already have another light so I was upset but was more worried about getting the tank cleaned, stand built, and my cycle started.
I contacted JBJ and they were able to locate a remote but want $45 for the thing, I don’t use moonlights so I didn’t ask (I assume a universal cord with the correct power ratings would work). I was off last week and decided to play with the light a little since it really does look good over a tank and didn’t want it to go to waste. I downloaded a generic IR app on an old Samsung S6 I had laying around and was able to get the light on and even play with the white and blue levels. Since turning it on I’ve unplugged and repligged the light and it always comes back on without issue so I’m assuming it could be used with a timer. The fan seems a little loud to me but I’m sensitive to tank noise.
I think it’s a strong, good looking light for the right person (especially if you have a JBJ light remote) but obviously it has some caveats. If nothing else the ballast or light could be used as replacement parts.
If anyone wants it let me know what you think is a fair price. I think I’m supposed to start with a price so $70 plus shipping? If I’m way off base or that sounds crazy just let me know.
