Well, crossing JBJ off my list ... We have been using their ATO for years and I am planning to move it over to our daughters new tank and asked them if I could purchase new brackets for the float switch - fairly simple request if you ask me.

They replied that in order to get new brackets, I would need to buy a whole new unit and they suggested using the new and keeping the old as a backup.

This is pretty common anymore. Kessil, EcoTech nor AI will sell you parts... just new units. It seems like if a company has always sold parts (like Danner), then they still will, but a lot of new companies just want you to discard and buy new.

I don't know about Kessil but at least ETM will sell you a wet side vs just a bearing ... Not force you to buy a whole driver, motor, and power supply too

Likely because they are build and packaged overseas and JBJ doesn't keep any spare parts in house.

I'm sure they have parts lying around. Even if it came from a return or damaged good - let the customer make the call if that works for them

Agreed... What kind of company sells a product, without any sort of support-hardware in their on-hand inventory... Doesn't make any sense.

Extension was lost (don't believe that would have been needed for this setup anyway) and the clip on the remaining broke

so you lost the bracket and you are mad at them for it. If you post in the want to buy section I am sure many reefers would throw that at you. I even thing I may have some of those old pieces in my junk bin.
