LOL thanks man! The tank is looking pretty bare right now but the remaining pieces are starting to come around.

Wow,
Great turn around, acros looking so colorful! So, please do tell what you did to turn things around, sorry if you mentioned, but curious minds wanna know :)

Thanks, Perry! Wish I had a definite answer.

I think the main thing was the lighting. I went from cheaper low end black box LED's to a much stronger high intensity blanket of light with the T5's. All of this happened while my pieces were stressed out from the Vibrant, etc, and coupled with low nutrients it was bound to happen. Also, I think it is purely anecdotal but I think changing the spectrum from a heavy blue spectrum with the LED's to a very white 50/50 mix of Coral+/Blue+ further stressed them out.

I changed my bulbs out to a more blue spectrum and I really like it. It is closer to the older spectrum, and I think the corals like it better also. Again, this is anecdotal.

My new layout is the following front to back,

Blue+
Blue+
Actinic
Blue+
Purple+
Blue+

I think what has helped is patience, stopping some of the things in my previous post, and allowing the system to do its thing. Went back to Reef Crystals salt, stopped Acropower and started up Reef Trace and Reef Fuel again, added a Polyfilter to remove any medications and Tin shown in the previous ICP test, and started dosing Sodium Nitrate daily to help boost nutrients.

I am going to give it time and continue this routine with no other changes for a while. The only other change I will make in a month or two is maybe changing out another Blue+ for a Purple+ bulb.

Simply gorgeous. Jealous of all the fur your sticks throw out. I am pretty happy with my growth and colors, but I don't get nearly the tenuis PE a bunch of you guys get.

Thanks Scott. That Walt Disney is the little engine that could. It is such a slow grower for me but it has always put out a solid vibrant gold color with fat polyps. Can't wait for it to start growing to see what it can do.

Interesting. I have WD frags in both DT and FT systems. I try to keep duplicates of the really good stuff.) The frag in my FT grows very slow but has okay PE and good color.

The frag in my DT grows like crazy with no PE and not much color yet. As far as frags go, it is the fastest growing thing I have. In this pic, all the little shoots on the base are new since purchased middle December.

To be fair, my DT has always been a better acropora environment

Looks good. I need some of that fast growing Voodoo my way!

Spent the day adding some new pieces from the Frag Tank to the DT. I have room for 30 frags now after the crash. Looking forward to watching these pieces take off.

These aren't the best shots as I shot them with my Olympus outside the tank right after I mounted them. They were a little ticked off.

TGC Cherry Bomb - I almost lost this piece in my frag tank but it started coming around. Colors are a little off but I have high hopes for it.

Those are all personal favorites, and a reminder that I need to replace my CB Maleficent.

It truly is a stunning piece. You can see it from across the room. It has really colored up since I received it. It is at the top center of my tank. Getting around 550-600 PAR. Hope that high PAR helps to maintain a bright red/pink.
