Hey I know it's past any warranty but there is a cmos battery to replace on the board. Though my issue was a bad control board, after replacement have not had an issue.

So anyone have a basement or a large my run sump? If so what do you use as a return pump?
I used to have a 16 feet from basement to DT. Used a Panworld 200 pump.
I’m still using the same pump....
4 years.... no issue .
But I did buy two of those, one as backup and it has never failed me.
You could buy a bigger panworld pump.
Of course they are not dc pumps but they consume less energy.

Stick with the Reeflo
I’ve been using mine in the basement for almost 5 years and have only put 3 seal rebuild kits on it.
It’s an awesome pump.

I have also used Jebao for years- wavemakers/DC pumps/Gyre/doser.
Currently have the DC-15000 running on my skimmer with needle wheel.

3 is 5 years is a lot. I have used Dolphins for decades+ without ever changing a seal. There are good seals out there and I have no idea why Reeflo/Sequence cannot use them.

My jebao has been fine these past 2 years. I have the dc 12000. It works well but has low head and a steep pump curve (flow falls off real fast with increasing head pressure) if you’re going to do a high head thing like a basement sump I think another pump is the way to go. For lower head applications I would and do a jebao no hesitation.

Return pump is an important piece of equipment for the reef tank not like power head. If it die your tank would crash. I can be conservative with powerhead but return pump I don't take chances

I personally like and have used their products in the past. Seems like the quality has diminished and manufacturer harder to get a hold of with issues.

My current tank has jebao return pump, power head, doser and coral box skimmer. Jebao all the way!!!

I have a Jebao OW-45 and OW-25 and they’re both strong wavemakers with great flow and maneuverability.

I like jebao I am currently running their Al-150 leds doing great.

I’m sensing that there isn’t any quality but it’s instead all about quantity! If you can buy 5 for the price of one good pump then you may get a few years out of 5 iffy pumps. So far I’ve had one that’s going strong but I don’t need that one to push volume so if it fails it’s okay. Especially since it’s an internal pump! However 400+ gallons, well I need reliability!!

I would not use it to rely on. You get what you pay for. So if you can live with something going wrong with it then go for it. I won't say they are good or bad, but they are exactly what their price suggests.

2 -3 years is not even close to reliable at all for a return pump. There are plenty of people that have had there Jebao pumps fail in a very short time on this thread alone. That is not reliable. What if it fails while your at work or worse while on vacation. The only way I would even think about running them for your application would be if I was going to run two simultaneously side by side. That way when one of them fails you don't kill everything in your tank. A good return pump should and do last 20 plusmyears. I had my last 1/3 HP pump for 20 years and it was used when I acquired it with my tank. Based on what I see as the average life of Jebao pumps, if you ran 2 you would need to replace one of them 10-20 times in 20years. Defiantly not worth it in my book.

Heck even the 2 top dog DC pumps that cost around 2K, which I refuse to pay have had allot of issues as well. I followed that thread here as well. Lots of over heating isssues and replacements on the Abyzz. They seems to get it worked out in the thread but wow.....for that much money. The same thread had some reviews of the red dragon as well and they seemed fairly well, but then again you almost at 2k.

Can you provide a source or link for the claim in bold? I am very interested in having some verifiable Abyzz failures or issues to read up on, because currently, I can't find any examples of them straight up dying. However, I can find numerous examples of the Ecotech vectra series as well as any jebao based return kicking the bucket in short order. I'm an Iwaki or Panworld (for external) and Eheim or Askoll (for internal applications) kind of guy when it comes to spec'ing pumps but I do have customers who want the latest and greatest so they often tell me they want to go all LED, all wifi, all DC this and that which is a reliability nightmare for me. I want to be able to recommend an Abyzz pump if clients insist on a controllable 'DC' return but I really haven't seen a ton of reliability data one way or another on them yet. It would really help to have to verifiable experiences of potential issues with the Abyzz line to read up on.

I have been let down too many times by them. Not worth the risk anymore for me.

So my basement sump aquarist what are your feelings on using a Jeabo DCP 18000? I have approximately 280 gallons of water approximately 16’ from my pump to my return. As of right now I use a Reeflo hammerhead/barracuda hybrid but I really want a DC pump. Abyzz is my dream but at $2200 a pop it’s not in the cards. So hello Jeabo. Is it worth it? I don’t know... I run one on my stand alone 65 gallon seahorse stable and it works great. Thoughts? Suggestions? Is there an alternative or don’t fix what’s not broken? I want DC because I believe it will use less wattage and because I want to control flow for feed modes (current way just shuts the pump off and makes all kinds of noise)
Does anyone ever consider a swimming pool pump? I have a Hayward variable speed pump on my pool that has digital control and programming. Plenty of pump power. Look at Amazon...Hayward pool pumps... variable speed.

What do you think?

My first Jebeo is still going strong after years of use and still going strong with its new owner...the second one malfunctioned within weeks and kept going into a limp home type mode every time a snail crawled over it

The 500 lph minimum on the wavemaker is a joke though it seems more like 2000 lph at minimum to me so no good for small nano reefs

Gone back to trusty old Koralia

I have a jebao DCP8000 on my 90 gal reef no issues so far (3 months with it so far) it’s quiet and seems to run well I will keep you posted
