I have it running for about 3 days and all of a sudden my tank herbie overflow is making gurgling noise so I notice the flow rate is decreasing so after a few minute it back to normal. I make a return on Amazon thinking it's defective for a replacement. Now the replacement one is doing the same thing making me think it was meant to be like sine wave motion. I have a herbie overflow so the water have to be steady. Is there anyway to turn off that sine wave mode or did I have two defective pump?

Without more information the problem is more likely the drain more so the pump, you cannot turn off the sine wave function. A sine wave controller makes the 3 phases of your pump more like an AC wave then the traditional pulsed square DC. The theory is smoother operation but it's more marketing hype then anything in my opinion.

You are confusing an AC sine wave with a Kelly Slater ocean wave, traditional AC pumps are inherently sine wave technology and these do not create pulsing water waves.
