Jebao DCP-3500 Flow Rate

Hello everyone. I'm in the process of setting up a Red Sea Reefer 350 with a Jebao DCP-3500 return pump. Can anyone advise as to the correct control flow setting on the controller that is needed for 790gph? The "instruction manual" that came with the pump isn't worth the paper it's printed on, and I want to be as accurate as possible.

The pump at full open and no head pressure will give 3500lph = 925gph
Pump is supposed to have 8 speeds.
Low should be 277gph
Max is 925gph
90% is 832gph. Using about 4 to 5 ft of head pressure I would use one or two speeds down from full
Are you trying to push 790 gph into the tank? The pump is rated at 925 gph at max head height of 11.5 ft. If that’s the case, then after head pressure loss, I doubt you’ll be able to push 790 gph into the tank even with the pump maxed out at 100%.

Yes. 790gph into the tank. The head height is 4.5 ft. Is it still doable?

Without a flow meter, it’s tough to tell. What you can you is a bucket test... Fill up the sump, then put a 5 gallon bucket beneath the output in the tank and see how long it takes to fill up. With that, you’ll be able to calculate an accurate flow rate.

After head height loss, I do doubt that the DCP 3500 pump will actually push 790 gph into the tank though. Remember,you have to add an additional foot of headless for every 90 degree elbow in the return line as well.

I had the 3000 (25W @ 855gpm) a similar size tank with a “800gph overflow.” I could run at 100% but I eventually found running it reduced (21W) was best.

The 3500 is 28W @ 925gpm. I’m going to guess somewhere around 75% is going to be most pleasing even if it isn’t the system’s designed rate.

Plug it in and try it. The sound and water height over the weir will tell you what speed is best.

If 90% is 832 at 0 head head height, how will going one or two speeds down from full achieve the OP’s desired 790 gph into the tank at 5 feet of head height?

SO.. I was saying to check it at 80% to 90 % to see if that does it.

By the way, head height matters... ;)

Here’s Vectra S1 rated at 1400 gph reading 250 gph on a Red Sea Reefer tank, similar plumbing, similar head height as the OP.
