Howdy,

I am currently using a DCP-4000 externally to mix my salt in my salt station. I have had more issues than not with this pump for some reason. I keep experiencing error 04 which means the impeller has stopped running. The pump is hard plumbed and is a pain to take a part but I have soaked it in vinegar once before which solved the issue for a good period of time.. however, it's back. I have noticed that the one joint above the union which is vertically above the pump has a hairline leak which continuous to create salt creep which boils down to the actual pump. I don't think this is permeating through the pump but the pump does contain calcium or salt build up inside when I take it apart. What can I do to avoid this and why does this impeller issue keep coming back?

I am debating re-doing the plumbing to remove that small leak, but it's a larger undertaking than I want to right now knowing that I am moving sooner than later.

I use jebao pumps for lots of things and tanks, but had the same issue with buildup in a mixing station. I am not sure it the exact issue is, but I would assume that if the water isn’t constantly moving stuff just stick to the pump. Finally I got tired of doing what you are doing and buying a mag 12. No issues since.

Its probably due to the frequent heat cycles. Pump heats up, cools down - precipitation.

Pumps of this design will run externally - but they're really designed to be water cooled - so they run hotter externally.

Didn’t think of that. I tip my hat to you sir.
