I know the earlier Jebao series leaked when ran externally. Anyone successfully running the new DCP series of pumps externally without leaking?

I run my DCT-4000 series on my mixing station externally all the time. As a matter of fact, its been mixing/heating for a couple of hours right now.

I bought two DCP4000 and I'll test it. The idea is run both externally on 50% of the power to replace my return pump Eheim 1262.

they work fine externally but make sure to not over tighten and make sure gasket ring is in right and you'll be fine. Also after they get older the gasket gets hard so have a few extra on hand or make some when you take apart for cleaning/servicing.

Thanks man! very good to know that works well. The consumption of Eheim is 80w and the two Jebao at 50% should be only 35w.

I have a DCT 15,000 running my skimmer and a 4,000 to run reactors and they work great. However I prefer A/C pumps for my return but if your system is not that big
D/C is pretty affordable. Just be mind-full of the seals when cleaning after about a year in service the that's when they tend to leak so just put in a new one.

The restriction from Jebao to not use their pumps externally is just because of leaks issues? or can the pump overheat and burn?

Ya I think because of the seals for the adapters is why they say no. From my experience they leak right away if they aren't sealed well. Some times just loosening the nut and tighten agai. Does the trick. They will not suddenly spring a leak. You may be able to make your own gaskets that are better.

As far as heat no issues there if the pump is not outside in the heat.

I also suggest using a piece of flexible tubing between the bulkhead and the barb fitting. Soft clear tubing is fine and it doesn't have to be spa flex PVC
