Bought a Jebao MLW-5 on Amazon and tried it for about an hour then it started buzzing at full speed on and off. Packed it up and returned it. But I really liked the very small size and power of it for my 11g long tank. I'm afraid a nero 3 would be too powerful. Tempted to order a new one in case the first one was a lemon. Any suggestions?

Try the SLW line.

I believe the SLW are the same wavemaker as the MLW, but the MLW just has a different controller. I had no issues connecting the MLW to the app on my phone. I do have a SLW-20 but that was too powerful for my nano tank.

How about SLW-10?

THe SLW have worked fine for me. Tho I would say get the nero. You don't have to run it at 100%

Maybe give a try to hygger mini (or the Chinese zksj eco slim, same pump but from Aliexpress)... I have one and love it, great little pump, perfect for your tank just a little confusing to configure on the older ones.

I've noticed with the jebaos that I have, if the wavemaker isn't seated just right in the mounting bracket it can make a buzz. Usually just reaching into the tank and nudging it will make it stop.

Did you disassemble it and reassemble it before you boxed it back up? A lot of times that fixes it.

If it's a low hum, letting it run for a few days usually fixes it.
