Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone else with Jebao wave pumps have noticed the rubber
piece's dissolving? I cleaned a few this weekend with vinegar and drying them with a paper
towel the rubber was coming off leaving alot of black on the paper towel!

Do you think this can be toxic to a Reef Tank?

Thanks

same thing happened with mine. seems like something has been chewing on them. do you have a urchin in your tank? I took them out the tank and coated them with silicone.

That should clean up just cut up a filter sock into scrub pads knocks it right off, it's the rubber that smashes to the glass that I am referring too.

tried cleaning it, its completely coming off. thought it was algae at first but the rubber pieces are coming off. im going to look at the rubber that's in contact with the glass hopefully that's still ok.

Mine started to get like this after 1 year or so. My LFS refers to those pumps as "disposable". Not a good feeling after buying a couple of them.

I have mine for over 2 years with no issue. Make sure you remove all the rubber pieces, inside and out, before soaking in vinegar. If you soak anything in a strong vinegar solution it will deteriorate sooner or later.

I have had mine over 2 years and have never had any issue. I rarely do any vinegar soaks, just take a toothbrush to it to clean occasionally

There are lots of reefers using these pumps. They are powerful and affordable. I have a WP-60 for over 3 years now as well as 2 RW-20s for over 2 years and all are going strong. For me $500 pumps are just not an option.

Agreed, I have 6 -RW-20's in our 300 and yes they work great, I just have never wiped the
rubbers with a paper towel to have it turn black, just inquiring that's it Love the units..

I totally agree. Im using 2 pp20's on my reef. I'm just not holding my breath on reliability
