I've been looking into better flow control than just my steady 500gph power head. I'd like to have a wave maker. I was looking at some Hydor Koralia and wave makers, but I was advised to get a Jebao instead, because the changes in the stream are gradual. So I started looking at some jaebos, but I need to find one that is good for my tank.

I have a 30 gallon tank about 36 inches long. The Jebao WP-25 has flow rating from 800-2000gph. Isn't that too much for my aquarium? So I looked at something smaller, the Jebao WP-10, which a little bit less, at 530-1000, which is probably better for my smaller tank, but I didn't like this model because it doesn't have the night mode. I really want a wave controller with night mode to detect when the lights go off and slow down the flow in the tank. But from what I've seen so far, only the more powerful Jebaos have this feature.

So what I've been looking for, is a good Jebao with flow sufficient, but not too much for my tank. Maybe 530-1000, but has the night mode feature. Even better, would be a Jebao kit with not one, but 2 powerheads, one for each side of the tank that could be set up each at different flow intervals to more stimulate a reef pattern or random water movements. With night mode, of course. And feeding mode too. I've looked and can't seem to find a good match for what I want/need. Any suggestions?

Yeah, a WP-25 would be too much for your tank, and it does suck that the WP-10s do not have night mode. I have a WP-10 on my 41 gallon and it is plenty powerful. However, they do require fairly regular cleanings, as any kind of buildup on them will rather drastically cut down their flow. So, I guess if you really really really wanted a WP-25, you could just get one and keep it really dirty

lol I was thinking, would it be possible to order 2 WP 10 pumps and order a separate wp 25 dual controller? And hook up the wp10s to the wp25 dual controller? Or would the wp25 controller burn up the 2 10s?

Look at the rw series. I think the rw-8 would be good. I haven't looked at them much but might be good.

Good question! I personally have no idea. Any electronics gurus on here?

Also, have you seen these?
JBWave

I have no experience with them myself, but they seem pretty cool.

The controllers are all the same, the only thing different is the actual wave maker. They even use the same power supply (24 V). I down converted my RW 15's power to 12 V so the flow would be more manageable in my tank. Either way, you're going to need one controller per wave maker.

I use an apex controller using the variable speed port and a jebao adapter powering 2 rw-8s. I can program them to ramp up, ramp down follow moon cycles and make my own wave programs. May be a pricey option, but I love the controllability.

That's what I'm using as well.

I added a wp-10 to my 40b and it wasn't enough flow so I added it to my sump lol
Two wp-10s would be nice for what you need

I guess I took for granted that he OP would be installing at least two powerheads along with a return.

In my 41g with the wp10, I also run a 750 Koralia, and have two rather powerful returns, creating plenty of flow.

Sorry sounded like you only had one. lol I also run two 750 evos

Isn't the rw 8 the same as the wp25 or atleast what they compare it to. If you thing the 25 would be to much you should be getting the rw4. They are more controllable so it would work. I think a 25 is good for 3 foot tanks.

Yeah, I'm looking to get 2 circulation pumps. I don't have a sump, but I do use a rather large HOB filter to run some Carbon now and again. Protein skimmer also HOB. The filter provides some flow and the circulation pump I have now is rated at 500gph and it seems to be plenty. So two rw8s providing anywhere from 200 2,000 gph should be plenty. One on each end of the tank. As I understand, the flow can be adjusted so they should be fine. If I don't get them for christmas I'll buy them for myself. :)

The rw-4s provide 100-1000 gph of flow each, but there aren't many of them listed on Amazon. Most of the listings for the rws on amazon are the rw-8s.

So you're thinking two of the rw8s would be too much? Maybe I should get just one, instead of 2. Hmm..... how confusing.

If your ever thinking about upgrading tanks get the 800-2000gph. If your not planning on an upgrade in near future I would go with the two pumps that are rated 1000gph

Eventually I'll up my 30 gallon for a 55, but that won't be for a few years. I'm only 7 months into this one and it's progressing slowly.

I have a 30gal 30" long tank. I purchased a WP10 mostly because i was given a lot of feedback that a 25 would be too much for that tank. Everyone raved about how powerful the WP10 is. Now granted i love the thing, for the price i couldnt expect anymore from it. But i was hoping the WP10 would be enough for the tank. I found that it was not for this tank. So i still have a Koralia 750 in there. Both of those at full blast is a bit much so i turn the WP10 down. My point is that i should have gone with the WP25 but after the fact i wish i went with 2 WP10's. I know that 2 of the 10's would be perfect for any coral you want to keep. And you always have the control of turning one down or different wave flow. I recommend the Jebao's are an awesome bargain pump. Great for the money

I agree here. Like I posted above get two wp-10s if your not upgrading anytime soon you have more control with it.
