I have read various threads about problems with the Jebao RW15 powerhead. Mine is not working, I have taken it apart, soaked it in vinegar/water mix for going on 15 hrs, taken a toothbrush to it and it looks brand new. When I put it back together it doesn't start working unless I nudge the blade and it will go a few times and stop, sometimes one sometimes five, sometimes for several mins. When I put it in water and do the same thing it gets maybe three turns at most and stops. Has anyone experienced this? I would assume it is a common thing with all the problems I have seen people have. It worked flawlessly until now any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I unfortunately have had the same problem after 4 months.. I tried everything and there will work but the second they go in the water they stop .I tried everything.... do your self a favor and just buy something reputable.. that iOS what I did .. I got the neptune wav starter kit.. much better and zero problems.. Iam a firm believer of you get what you pay for.

Same thing with an RW-4 bought 2, other one still going strong after 2 yrs. Junk it and move on. Don't know what else to say.....it's Chinese.

Have you tried swapping out those ceramic bushings with bushings cut from airline tubing? My RW8's would lock up after a while because of the ceramic bushings binding up and sticking with the ceramic shaft, once I swapped the bushings mine don't lock up anymore.

This is exactly what happens most of the time. If you get some grit between the ceramic bushing and shaft, the propeller won't turn freely.

Strange Twist to my Jebao not working.

So I clean it, looks like new, didn't work. Then tried the bushing idea, didn't work. So went out of town for one day, while I was gone picked up a Vortech MP 40. I get a call from my wife at 5am(I was out of town) that the jebao powerhead started working and she had no idea how to shut it off, she unplugged it and when I got home I plugged it back in and works perfect, mind u it didn't work for about 4 days. So I have it I tank for last 12 hrs and it is doing business as it did before and have this vortech in a box. What to do keep vortech or return it? I really got into having one but they are a chunk of change and who knows how long Jebao will work. What do u guys think?

In that case, I might still pull the pump or at least check your tank for stray voltage. Sounds like you have have had some water in the motor housing that dried out after you let it sit for a few days.
