Today my rw15 just stopped working. The controller and adapter is fine. Any idea on how to restart? Fish-street guys told me that you need to replace the pump every year. Thats a really stupid answer.

Any idea on making it work again? However i ordered sunsun jvp 402 (24000lph) as im afraid if it happens again with the new one. I have no budget of buying a vortech, nor we have a genuine distributor here in india. Please help.

However, I know old timer hobbyists who have grown all types of corals even using normal powerheads.

I like the wave movement, anyone knows how to make an intermittent switch with 1second pulse?

Here's a new model that's in between the low and high priced models: Current USA eFlux Wave Pump Kit. Amazon sells them. 3 different pump gph's

Soak the old one in vinegar and see if it goes.

If not, yea, replace it.
There's a couple places on eBay to but the head only and not controller.
I buy from these guys.

The two kinds of sun suns I owned did not like the ocean pulse wave maker.
Generally they just stopped or ran backwards.

Fish-street are selling the head for 35$. But what if it again fails?

Before you replace it have you changed the ceramic bushings? My Jebao PH's would lock up after a while because the ceramic bushings seize to the impeller shaft, I would clean them and they would seize again after a few weeks. I read about swapping the ceramic bushings with bushings cut from airline hose. Once I did this it cured the problem, mine haven't locked up since.

You have to buy another one, then another one, etc.
Or buy a brand that's going to last.

This is the compromise with Jebao pumps. They're cheap, but they'll probably need to be replaced more often. They are priced to compensate for this though. A Jebao PP15/RW15 (up to 3,400GPH of flow) costs around $75 on Ebay. A Tunze Stream 6105 (up to 3,400GPH of flow) costs $285 on Bulk Reef Supply. You could almost buy 4 Jebao PP15/RW15s for the price of a single Tunze 6105.

Personally I roll the dice on Jebao pumps. My experience so far with them in terms of reliability has been good. Even if I need to replace one, I doubt I would need to replace it 2 or 3 times. Even if I did replace the Jebao three times, as in the example above, I'd still have saved money over buying the Tunze. But that's just me. If you don't like the hassle of replacing the Jebao pumps when they fail, you may want to step up to a name brand. As you've likely seen however, this is going to cost a lot more than the Jebao pumps.

I dont mind replacing, but imagine when we gobout of town for a holiday or work? If it stops, the corals die and the fishes might too. So i got a sunsun jvp 24000 lph.. i still hav an rw8, its working since morethan a year, however the night mode has stopped working.

They are more likely to die then more expensive pumps, but all pumps die (except my ehiem 1262 it's been going for over 11 years, knock on wood). My generation 1 MP40's and MP10 are long dead. I did get a long life out of them but unrealistic to expect them to last forever. Even my old tunze 6060 which even if it still worked would be an eyesore stopped working after probably 7 or 8 years. At this point in my life its easier for me to replace jebaos every 1-2 years then ecotechs every 5. Plus assuming 1-2 years for jebaos and 5-6 for ecotech you still save. Koralia's were the first cheap powerhead I used and they were 100x worse then jebao. They lasted weeks not years and 90% of them leaked electricity. While some of my early jebaos have died none of them leaked and I have gotten a couple of years + out of some.

One powerhead dying while you're away is probably not fatal. Return pump is another story. I use a jebao return on my fowlr but that would not be fatal. When my eheim finally does quit or I upgrade to a large enough tank that it requires a stronger return I will probably opt for a more expensive and reliable return pump, or better yet run 2 because regardless of what pump you use it will eventually die even if its 20 years later.

If a single pump failure could cause my entire tank to crash and burn, personally that's too much risk for me. All my tanks have at least two pumps moving water.

Any pump can fail at any time, regardless of the manufacturer. Brand-name pumps have a reputation for failing less frequently, but they can still fail. The impeller assembly can seize from detritus or algae buildup, it can jam if a fish swims into it, the motor side can fail, even the controller or AC/DC power supply that runs the pump (if it's DC) can fail. There's far too much that can go wrong with any powerhead for me to trust my entire tank to just one.

Just my two cents.

Any pump can fail. Can't get around that. Moving parts break. I agree no pump manufacture is completely free of defects.
But after owning a pair of Tunze 6105's for 10 years before selling them 2 years ago ( still working on a friends tank) and buying a pair of Tunze 6055's that were 2 years old, 7 years ago and still going strong, I just don't see the attraction in a low cost pump that you know has a very good chance it will fail.

U mean eheim wavemaker? Well any wavemaker that dont pulse, almost never dies. I have 10$ sunsun thats like 5yrs old, still working, also have a hydor. I have a jebao rw8 thats working, yes i will keep 2 pumps, im using eheim return pump,as i k ow eheims lasting for like 15+ years, never heard eheim dying. Before the wavemakers were introduced to hobby, iv seen old timers growing sps using normal power heads.

This is when mine would lock up. At slower speeds is when the impeller would seize with the bushings. I changed the bushings and solved that problem, I also added a JBwave for more control. Mine have been working for a year and half without any issues since.

Assuming that all Tunze pumps will last 10 years is unfair. So is assuming all Jebao pumps will fail at the 6 month mark. If I had to gamble, I would wager that Tunze pumps will last much longer than Jebaos. I would not, however, wager that a most of Tunze's last five times the stated warranty period. I'm more comfortable betting that a cheap Jebao will last at least a year or two (and indeed in my experience, they have).

If you're more comfortable buying Tunze pumps, that's fine. I won't try to talk you out of it. Tunze makes great products, and it sounds like their powerheads have been working very well for you. I, however, don't feel comfortable spending so much with such a short warranty period. The moment Tunze extends the warranty on their pumps, I'll make the switch. Until then, I'm staying at the low-stakes end of the market.

Finally got Sunsun jvp 402, used my rw15 pump magnet also, incase the suction fails. Its a beast.. 24000lph, also using my old rw8 on full mode, plus return flow, on my 500 liter tank. Hope thats enough.

Jvp are ok but man are they ugly. And be cautious as they are known to leak current into the tank.
Yea ugly, but gets the job done, if it leaks, ill buy a new one, they are so cheap. However iv used a 3000lph jvp in my older tanks for years, never had that issue. They come with ceramic shafts too..

The flow was extremely powerful, had to remove it. Ordered for Coralbox qp16.
