Im looking for a skimmer now. The one I have it now is too over kill. Its rated for a 200g tank.
My setup is around 50g/55g.
Is the jebao skimmer a good skimmer?
Please give me your review about it.
Thanks.

The Coral Box skimmer?
Other than having to add a piece of acrylic at the gate to make it sit firmer, it was the best skimmer I've ever owned.

I use a coral box DC500.. It works ok, but there are issues to be aware in advance about;
  1. the slots on the nylon screws that hold the bottom plate on to the main body strip if you use the wrong sized screwdriver.
  2. the DC2000 pump is good, so long as you assemble it correctly, with the ceramic bushes rubbing tight up against the propeller shoulder. This stops any precipitation due to heat occurring within the ceramic bearing which causes the pump to fail.
  3. If at max motor speed, you need to remove the screw that's on the underside of the air silencer to allow more are in, this makes it noisier. (I now run mine without a silencer and via a tube to the outside air to increase pH and eliminate noise)
  4. you need to use a filter sock or pre filter before the pump inlet, otherwise it doesn't take long for the impeller to get partially clogged and reduce its flow/air movement.
One big plus point (apart from its relatively cheap price is that it has a drain tube to the underside of the collection cup.
For a cheap skimmer its good, but next time I would personally spend a little more money and get something better. (bubble magnus or waveline)

I got the D300. I hope it does the job. It will be here next week. Thanks for your review

ok great, when you get it, take the pump apart.... at either end you will see a silicon round plug with a ceramic bearing inside. Pop these ceramic bearings out, push the silicon plug all the way into their holders and replace the ceramic bearings ONLY HALF WAY IN. when you put everything back together, it will push the bearings in only as far as the are needed so they don't leave a gap between them and the shoulder of the rotating propeller shaft, if you don't do this, you will get a CaCO3 build up inside the bearing that will stop it from rotating, and the motor will break down after a while.

I will check on that! Thanks again.
