Jebao SLW Reviews?

I have an SLW20 (not wifi) it has a good spread, quiet, and relatively powerful. It works well in smaller water columns 20-50g, if you have a bigger tank 50-100g you'll want it pointing back to front not left to right. You can also do a little tilt with it to change the direction of the flow

For the price, I also like that it has a controller that has a variable speed adjustment and programmed modes.

Thanks for the concise review.

I’ll purchase the non WiFi version now.

I don’t think I need the app? Unless there’s more configuration you can do to the pump on there.

I can't imagine there being much more, outside of maybe being able to remotely control away from home.

Non WiFi it is.

I wonder if I could dip the dry side magnet in epoxy and then have it submerged. Hmmmm
You can I have a buddy that did that and he centered it in his overflow chamber. I've been contemplating doing something similar.

I just did a quick google search on others who did this and found that many others do it with other jebao models. Apparently the wet side magnet looks exactly like the dry side. Some have vacuum sealed their dry side and put it in the overflow. No issues.

I plan on buying two of the slw 10s and stuff them in my AIO chambers pointed at my bare bottom tank. I only want to do this to move all the detritus under my live rock.

Silly question, and I’m not knocking anyone else’s preference, but am I the only person viscerally opposed to all this connected stuff? Apps and dongles and firmware updates, oh my! I just have no use for this extra layer of junk. And it’s not free. It’s not even cheap! It seems like if a vendor wants to up the price (25-100%) they add Bluetooth or WiFi. It’s not like any of it makes life BETTER. SURE, convenience of not having to get under your tank to adjust something is a PRO, I grant that, and I’m all for paying extra for convenience, but after a week, are you really using that app again? After a month? I don’t get it. Am I missing the big appeal, some killer application I’m missing, or is it just the cool factor?

I’m not into wifi features on aquarium products either because they’re often like what car infotainment systems are to a quality tablet or laptop. They sort of work, but man can they be bad.

I think for me the app would be useful when I want to turn the pumps on max in my dinky 25 gallon 30 minutes before a water change so all the detritus and gunk is in the water column. I could do this while I’m in the yard prepping for the water change or while I’m taking a 45 minute dump in the upstairs restroom while browsing r2r or particular websites that fancy my vices... like r2r . It’s pure convenience. I don’t need it, but would I like it. Sure

Well, today, I might hold off recommending the powerhead. I tried my hands at anemones this month, picked up a long tentacle pink from my FLS for $17, and a LTA purple from Liveaquaria that showed up 3 days later. The pink one disappeared the day after my purple one arrived, I thought maybe it found a hiding place in the rock work. Today, I found the purple one in the Jaebo. To be fair, I’m an idiot, I’ve read I should have a nem guard on my pumps, but since it was so high and I never saw the nems leave the sand or rocks (with a fair distance to the SLw). So, *mine* cost me an extra $120.

It got a bit more silent after I properly dismantled it and put it back together. But compared to my old Tunze it is still a bit louder.
I just got mind last week and it is insane loud! Like always growling. Any suggestions?

I found my SLW-10 was louder on certain modes. But usually not something I'd hear more than a few feet away from the tank. Try disassembling it and putting it back together. Sometimes just letting them run and "break in" also helps pumpsquiet down.

Great pumps for 1/2inch glass or less. I have 2 on my back wall for added flow between acros. As others have said, not a laser beam of flow, instead a wall of shifting wTer movement. This is in a 6x2x2ft 180g. There now is an slw-30 so if its a larger tank you may wNt to look at those. If you need strong flow look at the jebao cp40 gyres or ow25. The latter is closer to a beam where as the gyre is a sheet of flow.
I have 2 of each on my 2yr old sps tank.

I got my slw-20 last week as well and its silent on full power.

I use it at its lowest setting though. Maybe the magnets arent seated properly on the glass and causing vibrations

Maybe give it a rinse or return it for another.

I run mine at 100% did you install the magnets properly, with the rubber bushing?

Mine was rattling today after I took it off the magnet to blow some dust off the rocks.
Opened it up, reset the impeller and now it’s back to normal. Try that

My tank was 60x45x40 need recomendation ... better take jebao SLW 20 or 2 SLW 10?

I'm assuming you listed your tank size in CM? If so a single SLW-10 would be fine. I have a single SLW-10 in a display that's 61x30x30cm and I have to turn it down to about 40%.
