I know there's a lot of debate about how good these are, whether they flow as much as some other brands...but honestly...there's no real way to measure flow rate of a pump that's designed like this. It's not like you can put a hose in a bucket and time it to see how much it puts in the bucket. About all you can do is just watch it and see what it does.

So, I made this short video. This is in my 220g (6ft long) tank. I turned off all other powerheads for this video, and have since left them off. This and the return pump are the only flow in the tank. The WP40 is at one end, and this overflow box is at the other end. As you can see, I'm getting waves in excess of 1". I had to adjust it a bit because I was getting splashing noises as it was hitting the center braces of the tank.

What's the cost on them now? It seems that the price fluctuates a lot for some reason.

BTW, I didn't get the voltage regulator that can slow it down. I run it on full voltage. On a tank this size, paying extra to reduce voltage isn't necessary. I'd say that I probably run it about 85% of the wave it can produce, just by changing the off/on timing on the knob.

With the wp40s can you plug those into an apex so when i feed the tank i can have it go off automatically or is that bad for the pump?

Right now the wp40s are like 58$ i think and the 25's are $55.00. not a bad deal.

I wasnt going to reduce the voltage what would be the reason for that to get them to run slower?

That's cheap for the 40's. Is that with shipping?

Yeah, reducing the voltage is going to be a necessity for small tanks. If you put this thing in a 55g, you may have problems at full voltage.

Shipping for me in CLE ohio was like another 11$ so i think all together it was like 68$ shipped

I installed a WP-40 and a WP-25 in my 5 foot 100G. Even with the new 1F controller set to W1-S3 the WP-40 is too much flow and moves my DSB all over. I removed it after a day and installed the second WP-25 and absolutely love the random flows. I really liked my Evolutions 1400's on the RKL wavemaker function switching every 30 seconds but after seeing these it was a good move to switch.

im hoping the (1) wp40 will be enough and no to much in my DSB 120 gal tank. will see

I just picked some up and super impressed.
When I go to my 300 running again I will pick up a few more of these.
Two tho is more then enough for my 90 gallon.

I have lots of videos of my tank with these. I dumped my MP40s for them, and have no regrets whatsoever.

I even swapped out my Apex for a Reef Angel, because the Reef Angel can make these run the same Vortech modes if you want them to, and you can switch them on the fly. Awesome, awesome pumps, and mine have been running ~5+ months now with no issues.

yeah i just bought 2 WP-40s for my 120 i cant wait to get em in.
