Are your lights always that white?

I am guessing you refer to the July update? No, that picture was taken under white for photo purposes. I run the lights at 60% blue and 10% whites. These are cheap black box lights and do not offer the controllability of the high end ones. I had to make a choice of where to economize on this project and lights were the obvious choice. Given the limitless options and high prices. I have upgraded a lot here over what I intended, but the lights are still a future plan.

OK guys... here is an update on the 55.

I have been battling GHA/bryopsis in this tank for some time. I recently resorted to chemical fix in the form of FluxRx. It seems to have it under control now. I guess we shall just have to wait and see how it works long term.

This weekend I installed a small sump setup using a HOB overflow and a 10g tank for the sump. I got it all plumbed in and running now. The best part of it is it allows me to finally get rid of the loud HOB skimmer I have been using.

Alright guys and gals.. Its been a while since I have updated here... I will be posting some new pics and a video likely either later this evening or next week. Since the last update things are growing out beautifully. The SPS pieces that you see in the video are taking off like gangbusters. I have added quite a few new corals and a couple RFA , and I can honestly say that I am extremely happy with this tank today.

I am actually pretty disappointed in this video because despite my efforts i still have a lot of the blue dominating the lighting. I also forgot to turn off the flow so the shimmer is interfering a lot!!

Here is a picture of the 55g tank as it stands today. I took this shot in the early morning a couple days ago about an hour after I turned the lights back on off schedule so not everything is opened up to its full beauty...

This tank is slated to be replaced soon so likely there won't be many more updates besides the final "before teardown" one.

Well friends.. tonight, I shot the final video of the 55g.

When I wake up in the morning, I will begin tearing down my beloved 55g tank. I've had this tank for decades and it has survived every abuse I could throw at it.

I will likely set it back up in another room although what form it will take has yet to be determined.

I hope you all enjoy this final update video, and watch for new videos of the upgrade build!!
