Hello all. I convinced the misses to get a tank. We got 1. It's in the bedroom.... Lol. It's about 2.5 weeks old. We really never noticed the smell, if any. I just did a 10 gallon water change, cleaned the skimmer cup ( where the smell now comes from). And that's it. It's terrible. The smell is very strong. It never smelled like that. Please help me get rid of smell. Or else. Lol tank will get relocated to living room. Please help me out here. The bedroom stinks now. By the way. 60 gallons, mandring goby, copperband butterfly ,two clowns, few corals and an anemone.

During water changes, or skimmer cleaning, it will smell. However, the smell should disipate and go away, in an hour or so. It's also possible to put a filter bag of carbon, in the skimmer collection cup, to cut down on odor. There's more elaborate solutions, such as skimmer collection "lockers," and such...

keep the skimmer cup clean, also make sure you are not overfeeding.
when I was starting out, I got into the habit of feeding those
little froen cubes of shrimp etc every day, noticed after a few weeks
the skimmer had a "bad day at the beach " smell, cut way back on
the feeding, and just do the froozen food very rarely now. also I
use a fliter sock with loose carbon in it , close to the skimmer,
this also seems to help

I did clean the cup. Of course. And what is a.skimmer collection lock?? And what do I do?, put a bag of carbon in the cup? Thanks for the help. I need to elimination this smell. Please.
