My tank, my first, has been running about four months now. I wanted a "large" refugium, and hope to keep a variety of macro algae. In hindsight, it's not so large, about 25g out of 200g total, including a 5" sandbed. I've read that red macros have some benefit with respect to clean and healthy water, so I hope to attain several varieties. Although I have a build thread, my refugium draws a lot of my focus and interest, I tend to stare at it a lot, so I thought I'd give it a thread of it's own. Here's some current pics. If you can help my to identify the red species I already have, I'd appreciate it.

I should add, the tiny spheres on the algae turned from a translucent red to the color you see upon a day after putting it in my fuge. Hope this is normal, or, that it turns back.

I have a small stand of Codium too. It's probably doubled in size since I got it, maybe three months.

The Caulerpa serrulata tends to grow into it, into everything, but I harvest the Caulerpa and toss a bit out weekly.

So, it turns out, I apparently have "cotton candy" algae growing in my refugium. (Separate thread here)

I now have the task of removal, and risk of dispersal, in front of me. Not cool.

That is awesome. The Caulerpa you have is Brachypus, not Serrulata. That is the coolest way I've ever seen it carpet. What lighting do you have over it?

For lighting I use a Wave Point 4 bulb, 96watt T5 HO, with all Super Daylights. Thanks for the ID! I've come to learn it wasn't serrulata, but wasn't sure what it was.

That's really cool. I'm in the middle of setting up a 46 gallon display refugium. Where did you get your macro from?

Nice fuge:-) that's dragons breath right. I need to get some. I've got a bunch of macros. That red grape tree is defanitly in need of something. I actually like cotton candy. Its attracrive and I noticed my copapods love to be in it.

Sorry for the late response!

I got the it all from my local fish stores. Im trying to get rid of the Caulerpa brachypus actually. Going to leave a little bit, until I'm confident what happens, if anything - water chemistry, coral health.

The caulerpa roots in my sand and I fear it inhibits the advection of water through the dsb.

Post a picture John. I'd love to see 46g of refugium!

Thanks! Yup, dragon's breath.

Tons of the small isopods in my cotton candy. Hope to transition to all reds, and would love to find some palatable reds for my scopas.

I'd live to get some blue octodes!!

Although it may not look like it, I cleaned for a couple hours tonight; maybe second time ever. Would not mind if my nitrates came up a little as s result.

Tons of detritus! Amphipod population down. Maybe I should get a cucumber. It would not really be a refuge at that point. Might need a detrivore pack or something, just to re-populate.

Jeff it's the nicest fugium I recall seeing

You've made it look like a planted tank +10 in that top shot

It looks super clean. Like a barber went in there and gave the macros a cuzz cut! I don't have mine set up yet. It should have water in it mid October1
