And we'll start off with pics from today. Here is my 150 gallon custom mixed reef.

And a rare shot of the whole tank, stand, and lighting fixture.

Don't get on me about my sand bed being messy...I fear commitment and can't glue all my frags down LOL.

Thats super nice, that blue stag is awesome imo and i want a frag!
Killer tank you have there, how old is it? Care to tell us more about it?

Jessy-

Can you give us some details like tank manufacturer, dimensions, lighting, and from what I see you're running this setup with all HOB filtration? Is that right or am I missing the oveflows to the sump in the stand.

What a beautiful system. I'm thinking COPY CAT! Where are you located?

Very nice tank and your candy shop is sweet!

Gorgeous!! I love the variety of colors and textures you have in there.

Tank:
Custom build by Charlie @ www.fishtankfactory.com
Glass (not drilled) 48"L x 30"W x 24"H
Rimless, 1/2" regular glass, Polished edges
TEK 48" T5 fixture with custom light bars made by me (DIY instructions here http://www.my1uplife.com/2008/10/diy-ada-style-light-bars)
- Bulbs are: 4 blue, 1 pink pro color, one aquablue +, and 2 purple
I run carbon and GFO on the HOB aquaclear70
I have a HOB CPR Aquafuge2 with chaeto, feather dusters, and pods
I have a Remora Pro HOB skimmer powered by a MAG3 and a prefilter box
3 Tunze 6025's modded for flow
And a home made bridal net top to keep all the jumpers in.

Stand aka "The Beast":
Built by Dave @ Mitchell Construction (davocean)
49"L x 31"W x 31"H
2x4 construction to be faced later. This thing is a tank (as in the army kind with a big gun...the run over you and squish you like a bug kind) A++++ on the construction. As Dave so perfectly put it, "Glued, Screwed, and Tattooed."

All Equipment was transferred from the 90 gallon of sexiness of which you are not privy to :) .

And the story begins...
I called Charlie and got a great quote from him for the tank. Literally 1/2 the cost Leemar wanted. So I ordered and gave him a deadline of the 26th of June which was only about two weeks from the day I called him. There was a chance it would have gotten done much earlier but he had jury duty, but I give him an A+ on communication through the whole build. He kept me up to date on when to expect it the whole time. I specifically ordered the tank just as it is. I wanted it without the trim at the top and polished on the edges. I couldn't afford Eurobracing, and I don't mind a center brace at all, so I ordered it with 18" openings so my equipment could fit in the openings perfectly and HOB. In then end, I picked up the tank on the 25th. I drove up to Alhembra, CA to the factory and got a pretty cool tour of the whole place up there. I'd highly recommend them for a stand or a tank. Really solid operation they have going on up there.

This tank has been up and running since 6/27/08 and I go up to visit/take care of the tank about once a week. It's a half an hour away from me at my parents house til I can afford a place of my own and stop renting.

You have a great looking tank with beautiful colors!

Thank you! You were with me when I acquired most of my acan collection :)

I love that stag and the sea fan mixed in there. Very nice tank! :)
Thanks! They are both some of my favorites, although I do have to pick up that gorg...its laying on the stag and not very happy :( I've just been so lazsy

That's one of the more impressive setups I've seen. Very nice. Love it.
Wow. Thank you! I think its got a long way to go. But I do try.

Gorgeous!! I love the variety of colors and textures you have in there.
That's exactly what my goal was. Color and a "reef with a mohawk" :nerd: I wanted all my LPS around the reef and it topped of with big stags growing high in the water.

That's actually a surf and turf. Emerald green with teal tips. Its hard to get it to look right in pics with a point and shoot. I have to bust out the nice camera soon for you guys. And as for frags...I know there are plenty around, but I don't frag too often because I'm trying to get them to be big monster colonies that shock and amaze ;)

Nice looking tank.
Where did you get the frame system to suspend your lights?
Jeremy
I made them myself. http://www.my1uplife.com/2008/10/diy-ada-style-light-bars here is the link to the whole process. You can powder coat them black I just decided not to.

Looks great, great work!
Is that 150 the "standard" dimensions at 4'x2'x2'?
its custom made 48x30x24

:) posted all the stats for you on the other post. I'm in san diego. If I had it to do over I'd do floating overflows in the corners and make it 6 or 8 ft long. I am doing great without a sump but I'm tempted to try my hand at an inline frag tank and I'd need a sump to hide it.

looking great.
check these new light trees out.
your tank is so clean and neat, i thought you might want to check these out.
http://www.zeroedgeaquarium.com/Brackets.htm
that would be 120 gallons....must be a little bigger
Thanks! I did see those but I was on a budget so I just made my own. I like mine the best because those little hangers are retractable so I can lift my light with a finger and it stays up til i pull it down with one hand. Utilitarian.

Very nice.
Looks like it has been together awhile.
Most of my livestock has been with me from my 90. About a little over a year.

Very nice tank and your candy shop is sweet!
Thanks Rev!

LOL - I thought it might be you Jessy! Nice seeing you again at RAP! I'll catch you for more Acan buying at next years shows!

I'm setting up a new tank to hold my Acans & Bowerbanki's ... I'm swapping out the 92G corner tank for a shallow lookdown tank! I traded-up the Solaris I5 I won at RAP for a 3 foot version ... should be delivered today via UPS!

See, you can have a awesome tank without halides and a sump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sara that sounds awesome, I've become partial to shallow look down tanks myself... it must the later stages of acan LPS addiction... making a tank to showcase them.

reef-nut thanks for the compliment. :) Awesome tanks aren't due to the equipment...its all do to the care and water quality.

So I have a mini-update
I am going shopping tomorrow and picking up a solar wrasse and a true green coris and because I fear reaching the edge of my overstocking limits, I'm going to sell my osc clown and my b&w clown. There is also a really cool acro that was traded in at the LFS here...

It looks like a red stag or tort...but I don't know if its just browned out something else.... its very large but i'm not sure I want to take the risk of it changing colors. I want it to remain just as it looks now....

But I'm bringing my friend (sdguy) with me to see about it and I'll let you know if I get it.
