Hi all-

wondering if anyone has suggestions as to why by burning banana stylo only extends its polyps at night? It’s about 2/3ds up in tank, at same level and with same flow as very happy torts, montis, acros. My other sps (and lps and softies) are happy and open during the day. Parameters are all stable, in case some parameter could be affecting this stylo differently, I’ve posted below. I’ve had it for maybe three-four weeks? Looks fine during day (E.g., not apparently dying).

thanks!

Sounds like it’s pretty normal behavior. Photosynthesis during the day trying to grab small particulates by night.

When I added a pygmy angel it started picking at my acros and pocillopora. They would then stay closed during the day and open wide at night. Still happy and growing though

Mine never shows polyps when the lights are on. I was wondering about that too. Also the growth in the first two months was pretty much none.

In the wild that’s typically how it works. Plankton is out after dark so it’s feeding time and during the day predators try to eat polyps. It should revert to opening in the daytime in due course if nothing is picking at it. No cause for concern

They like to be fed. Try feeding oyster feast during the day, train it to come out then.
