params are spot on. All my other Sps are doing great. Here is a close up of its position in the tank. It's nearly directly under my lights, and has great flow.

.

It's been in the exact same position since I entered it into my tank. I've been having phenomenal growth on all my sps over the last six months...except for this single piece. It would be difficult to snap it off the rock and replace it, but if that's what needs to be done, then u guess I should consider it. I've got another piece of sps that was dormant for over a year, then just started sprouting branches all over the place.

dont do that...unless you want me to grow it out for you ;)

I want this acro so bad but 250 for a half inch is just to much for me to pay.im not saying it's not worth it,my wallet is.

Where do you guys have it in the tank? I have mine fairly high up in the tank with good flow. Color seems dull and not a lot of red base and just a couple of yellow tips.

I bought a piece from Jason at coralcon this year and he says it wants to be in the middle to lower parts of the tank so I put it in the middle and it's doing well. It was dislodged from its mount accidentally and sat on the sand bed for a couple days until I could decide where to put. During those days I did notice better PE so I mounted it in a lower spot, after fragging a piece :) WWC has there's about 2 inches from the bottom and there's is doing well. I run 3 blue plus and 1 coral plus with a reefbrite xho in a 155 gal. that's 24" deep. It's a short canopy so the lights are 8" from the surface.

Oh cool that's good to know. Mine is like 8 inches from water surface under 8 bulb T5. It might be too much light. I might try to move it down a bit, maybe middle of tank around 12-15 from water surface.

I have mine under an 8 bulb t5 also. Really high up in tank. Guess I better move it down.

These are looking great and almost everyone seems to be getting great growth and color. This one could turn out to be a new aquacultured staple for the sps keepers.

I can't wait until I get one!

The price for this coral is almost, not quite, but almost double the amount of money I will pay for a coral for my tank. I might just spend the money on it though, everyone seems to be doing pretty good with it.

zero progress. Also, seems like some of the spread (encrusting) has died off. Any ideas?

If I were you I would move it ,,,, according to pics in this thread, this coral needs some encrusting room. It appears to be a tabling type coral with a lot of new growth coming from the encrusting part of the new growth. You are limiting the amount of new encrusting growth you can get with your frag because of where you have it mounted, out on the end of that Tonga type branch rock. It can really only encrust back towards your main rock scape. It really can't encrust forward or down the side much, won't get enough light. LOL But what do I know, your tank is 10000000 times better than mine will ever be :) its food for thought though. Your tank and frag of the JF Flame Acro ,,,,, are Awesome If you do move it,,,, can you send me the branch with the encrusting part you can't remove :) I will pay shipping lol
