I bought a bugar of this from him 5 months ago and no growth. I cannot get it to eat either. I have ATI 6x24 PM 1,ATI Blue+ 2,Aquablue spacial 3,AQ Science 22k 4,Fiji Purple 5 Aquablue Special 6, Blue+. I have it 28 in below light. Anytime i try to move it up about an inch it starts to show white on the edge within 2 days and i put it back down. ARG this is very frustrating. I would really appreciate any comments. Every perameter is good.

You're not alone...

I've had mine for 5 months. It doesn't grow either and is super finicky :tire:

Mine is doing very well. I only recieved it less than 4 months ago as a small two eye frag but it has nearly doubled in size and has a nice green rim now. Its still small but eats a lot for its size and is a consistent eater. I think the key is that I got a nice and healthy frag from a solid vendor.

So my parameters, well they have been kinda screwed up since I got it. My new tank is less than 6 months old, I've had, alk spikes, phosphate spikes, calcium spikes, and now magnesium spike. lol. Im an idiot but I have learned from all of these mistakes and they WILL NOT happen again. It has beared with me through it all and looks great, while at the same time a few others are not happy, but most all of my corals look great. I feed every mouth on every coral every other nite, its a pita for real but I rarely miss a nite. Its now eating like crazy and I'm sure it will start to explode soon :)

I have had other chalices that act like you guys describe but they too are coming around, just took 4-6 months to look ok.

I use ATI PM also, and my PAR is 90 for the T.D., like I said my parameters are anything but stable, but coming around!! Oh yea and I do weekly 40% water changes on my 120g.

here is an old shot of my unique shallow raceway system

hth good luck,

Its what that bottom tank holds, I empty it completely. The corals are in those top tanks. Its just what I have been doing since I set it up and so I'm sticking to it. Plus I feed a real lot to my lps. They have been growing fast so I'm cool with it.

So it is possible. Thats awesome hopefully it will come around. BTW i think that most vendors seem to be more generous with the size of frags versus private party. just my opinion and expierence.

Its the other way around for me. Im glad I seen this as I wanted to get one but not if it dont grow :(

Yes I also agree with JR's Reef. My Tangerine Dream was purchased from a private individual. Every vendor and individual is different, every frag is different. To increase the survivability and health of my frags I ask how long its been since the frags were cut. Most people will try to ship from 7-14 days after cutting. If you give a minimum of 3-4 weeks to heal frags do much better imo. Its not that they look unhealthy after 7-14 days in a vendors tank its just that there is so much stress from shipping and acclimating to new tank conditions. I believe the extra time helps them deal with all this stress.
