JFox stressed blue lights, but why is AB+ so white?

Someone explain to me why he uses blue but then AB+ On my G5 Pro is so white... I hate how white the tank is

I have quite a bit of SPS

I would love to run all blues and minimal whites but I don’t want to hurt my tank...

I don’t know if the G5 Blue’s AB+ is any different, but there’s that. Alternatively, you can use AB+’s mid-morning blue at 100% all day. Personally, even AB+ with 24% whites on my g5 pro is too blue for me, and it makes the fish’s colors harder to see and enjoy, but at least that’s an option with the Pro.

warm whites 20%
red and green 15%

And blues 100%

I’m really debating of just bringing the whites and warm whites down to 10% for 4 hours a day and just heavy blues all day. To my eyes whites make the tank look bland

Yeah, I’m not sure what BRS’ settings are. Maybe they’re trying to get close to an ATI bulb? Radions have a built in AB+ template that will be much bluer than the BRS settings.

Lfs runs all frag tanks all blue radions.
Green hair algae looks brown, lol.
I still say go with the look you like as your the one looking at it all the time.
Your personal preference is all that matters.
All blue does not hurt the corals, lfs has very good growth running them 100%. They are all gen 4.

My question is all blues and a hint of white going to effect SPS in any negative way? I could run all blues just because my eyes and my wife’s eye like it. Doesn’t mean it’s the ideal setting for SPS.

As long as the corals grow and look nicer I’ll do whatever. I have noticed I’m forced to clean the glass every day now with the increased white

Your corals will do perfectly fine with your proposed settings of all blue and violet all day with a short period of white/red/green added in. What would be more helpful would be dialing in your desired par range with all blues and violets. And the warmer colors will just add a short boost. Yes, all blue all the time with no other wavelengths will reduce some pigment production so colors will change, but growth wise it shouldn’t be appreciably different. So long as your sps stay in the 200-400 range you’re fine. Just like someone else mentioned, do what you find visually appealing so long as your par is in range. It won’t hurt anything

I think it’s too white also. I have a G5 Pro, running AB+ modified, r and g down at 6%, whites at 12%. It’s over a 34g RS170, still looks bright. SPS and LPS

Uhm. I though it’s known that the pro will be whiter than Radion G5 blues, the led are different with less blue ones on the pro so that MIGHT have an effect on why ur ab+ is so white...?

Thats not wrong but not exactly accurate either. You can grow corals in whiter light so long as it contains the blue component. Some say the lower Kelvin might in fact grow corals faster. I’ve heard this several times.
As for algae, yeah they like the reds but many of us older reefers grew corals before blue lights were common. I used 5500K GE MH with VHO actinics/ I recall fast growing corals and little algae issues.
I like the look of natural daylight tones personally
