I paid $200 for one polyp of Joe's Apocalypse. Can anyone tell me if the pic on the right is Joe's Apocalypse?
It is purple with yellow skirts and looks very different from the photo he posted.
I have contacted Joe and hope to hear from him soon.

It looks like it could be the same paly to me judging by the way the skirt and mouth look. Sometimes different lighting can effect the look of certain markings. For instance, I got a zoa that had a red ring in the oral disk but only when kept in brighter light. It may just need to color up some.

Either way, Joe should be able to confirm for you. Hth

The center area is completely purple and my polyp is a matured adult. I doubt they are the same. I took a close look today because one of my local reefers visiting my tank and he said he got a huge colony like that for $50.

Again, my comment had nothing to do with whether or not it's a mature adult or not. Palys (like SPS and LPS) sometimes have to color up. Sometimes it's an issue with getting acclimated to lighting or different water conditions (note that I said different not good or bad). Joe should be able to confirm or deny.

I should add that I understand why you doubt it, and I'm not saying they ARE the same. Only that they could be. I see enough similarity to make me wonder.

I understand zoas would morph but it takes time to morph. We are looking at a case of extreme make over.

That's a tough one. The mouth looks dead on and the skirts do show promise. But i would be skeptical as well. Hopefully Joe and give you an answer soon.

I wasn't talking about a morph. I was just talking about it possibly needing to color up...they (like other corals) can lose color in shipping or from being in a bad spot in the tank (or from different lighting or water conditions). The zoa with the red ring that I mentioned earlier is the best example I can give of what I'm talking about...it lost the ring in transition to my tank but got it back when put in high light and given time.

...but it sounds like you've already made up your mind on this one.

Dont rule out the possibility of the og pic being a bit enhanced.....

similarities? Morph? They are no speckles in the one I got. Green center field turn into purple? It would be helpful if anyone has this paly and can share pics here.

Regardless of what it needs/ shipping stress etc if you pay $200 for a polyp you better get EXACTLY what was pictured. Hope you get a replacement or your money back man.

The one you got looks more like the one fox is calling acid reflux. Golden basket is selling them on Mari rocks right now on the cheap.

All the polyps on the left have red on the face. Yours doesn't. Might have come off the same rock but doesn't look the same polyp

They are different. My krakpipe look like the one posted.i have the same one u got too.The one u got will turn really yellow skirt if they get alot of light.I would post pic but i am at work now.I got both on the same mari rock awhile back

Joes a good guy he mighta sent the wrong frag but from the looks of what you have it might came off this rock from on of his old thread sales

My friend bought a joe apocalypse from him when it was first released, his frag look like the apocalypse posted but the one you posted does not look anything like it.
