Hi! I'm John and this is my 36g lil happy place.
It's been going strong for about 2 years. I never have much money to spend on it so it's definitely a tank on a budget :)
I mainly set this tank up as a home for our 2 clowns and yellow watchman goby who have moved with us from Texas to Wyoming and back. The orange one is one of the babies we raised from a pair (true percula and ocellaris) we had in 2009. Our traveling tank was a 12g biocube that now has been repurposed into a quarantine tank.
I found the tank at a pet smart discounted a generous amount due to not having a light. (Suckers! I wasn't going to use that light anyway). The filter is a filstar xp2. Also found on sale. It has an ehiem surface skimmer and a repurposed biocube protein skimmer for oxygenation. The light is a current orbit marine I found on sale as well.
Not much. But man the life and enjoyment we get is outstanding!

Well I am glad I took some pics before I added the new fish. (fire fish, pj cardinal, royal gramma, and 3 peppermint shrimp) The clown fish decided the whole tank was theirs and there was no room for others. They killed the firefish and started in on the pj cardinal before I got them out. The clowns are now going to live in their own lil tank with a nem for company. Jerks. :( Ah well I knew it was a gamble. Anyway I took some new pics. Of course the shrimp and cardinal didn't feel like having their picture taken.

I got a lil tree coral of some sort for the space on the right side of the rocks :) I think it's a capnella sp.

Secondarily. I don't think I ever explained the coffee cup on the bottom right. When I was breeding clownfish I used coffee cups as decor and such in my grow out tank. They took to them like anemones it was adorable. One of the clowns that just got booted out lived in that cup since 2009 when we (my wife and I) raise it. Turned out to be a great arrangement. If we wanted to get the clowns out of the tanks for maintenance or something all we had to do was pick up the cup. All of them would get in.
No worries tho. I put a new cup in the other tank they got moved to. :)

Well I guess I’ll update my tank thread. Not much worth mentioning. Been a rough few months for my algae riddled cess pool. I did get a little skimmer and a new light. An AquaMaxx prism. Which btw puts out a LOT more light than I expected. All of this is on the heals of a lovely algae outbreak, most of my clean up crew had either starved or died of old age or neglect. I haven’t treated my tank like I should and I have gotten what I deserved.
Oh well. Back on track a bit. Ordered new crabs n snails and rearranged my rock a little. Put a little acan in to see how it’ll do. Haven’t quit decided where to put the red lettuce looking macro at yet. It grew out of the rock my deceased green mushroom corals were on. I’ll put up some picks now and some more after some of the algae has been reigned in a bit. I’m determined to regain a little pride in my reefyness.
