I started with a 46g in January and I am on my third tank now.

My recommendation is, unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure you just want a 55g I would look for a 6’ long 125 or so

@Jon Fishman unfortunately I live in an older home and while the landlord has ok'd us getting a bigger tank eventually, first we have to deal with some construction being done next door which has stirred up a nest of carpenter ants and my landlord also has plans to tear down the chimney and fireplace that is in my living room. We will also need to reinforce the floor below where we want to place a larger tank so that we don't accidentally end up in the basement. The entirety of my two story house is supported by railroad beams that it sits on.
