The trick is to turn the buckets upside down and step on the handle of the lower bucket and gently pull the other bucket away from the other.

A master will also pour all the water of both buckets first.

An air compressor is your best friend to separate them. Place the nozzle where the buckets meet and blow air in. They will separate

This works!

Pro tip is to use a bigger hole and put a bulkhead fitting with a threaded plug so you can reseal the hole afterwards.

Oh my gosh! Yes!

I use one bucket to clean my sand, then a hose to siphon tank water to a shower drain or toilet.
Easy peasy.
