Jokers vs PHEs

dont have any but i thought jokers were just green skirt and the purple center, like a ppe except without the green mouth
and the phe has a green skirt with a purple center but a reddish ring around the mouth?

there's jokers, phe's, and phe red rings. phe's and jokers are similar, except jokers are bigger. i've seen phe's morph into red rings in one tank and turn into jokers in someone elses tank.

^^ that happened to my jokers. Under MH they developed the red ring and when I moved them to a shaded area the ring went away. .

Yea that's what I figured. My PHEs seem to lose the ring as their polyp sizes get bigger.

In my opinion, jokers do no develop red rings. Under T5, jokers look definitely better:

wit, what are some physical characteristics that seperates them from each other? I've had PHEs lose their rings after I placed them on my sandbed, looking very similar to the pic you posted. Only way I could keep the red ring was under very high light, right under the MHs.

OK I am not sure about if Jokers are PHE's, but I can say that they do loose their ring.

Now here is a pic of the very same ones, maybe a year later.

Now here they are very recent. NOTICE the slight red ring. Look hard! LOL!

Oh mann... I had to squint so much! Is exposion to high light the only way to keep the red ring on them? Rev, where did you place them in your tank that resulted in fading away of the ring?

Now I really want a frag of Jokers so I can compare side by side ... :lol:

To be honest, I think there are also to varieties (at least) of the red ring PHE's as well.

I have some red ring phes in my tank right now that are different from the ones I just posted. I will get pics of that tonight.

there are strains of red rings that do keep their color. i have joker/phe's do develop the red rings under direct mh but i also have another strain that keeps the red ring pretty well under indirect light.

I have never had my Jokers get a red ring in any light......can't find picture right now though.

Here's the only pic I could find of Jokers and PHE's together...

The PHE's are kinda in the middle and the Jokers areon the bottom Right next to the PPE's...

My Jokers are like Grisha's bottom pic... They're a larger polyp than the PHE's... DFS sells Joker Zoas which IMO are PHE's
