So today I completed the plumbing and the silicone dried quickly. Busy filtering the NSW for the tank.
Will update with pics later

So put the water, dry rock, artificial rock and live rock in.. now for the cycle

BTW.. any helps on aquascaping?

Hi all.. need help.. so my ammonia spiked to 0.4ppm then nitrite spiked to about 0.02ppm and now nitrate is around 5ppm. (I measured other like ammonia nitrate and nitrite on each test..) is my cycle finished or what?? I thought ammonia spiked and nitrite spiked as way to low...?
All help appreciated

Regards

On the aquascape I would say get way way more rock in there. For filtration and to add depth and height to the tank. It's way easier now than to add it later. For the cycle, I would recommend getting a bottle of pure ammonia like Dr. Tim's and adding the suggested amount to the tank. If within 24hrs the ammonia has dropped to 0, do a big water change and you're good to go. Otherwise keep waiting. Cycles should take quite a while.

Tank is two weeks old though.. cant you add fish when the ammonia and nitrite are at zero?
Thats whats happened

Cycle can take much longer than that. Most of mine have taken about a month to finish. You know that the levels have dropped but not that your biofilter is capable of handling a continuous supply of ammonia. My suggestion is to slow down and make sure it's done right. You don't want to be freaking out when you add fish and get an ammonia spike. Just my 2c.

No.. i understand thanks for your advice.. i cant really afford more rock right now. So can i ghost feed?

Yeah sure. You just need to give it time to break down to ammonia. I would go light on the stocking for now then, because the biofilter will be limited with a smaller amount of rock.
