Figured I should throw myself out for judgment, advice or thoughts with some full tank shots and parameters. I think my lack of PE on my sps is a lack of nit And phosphate. I should really get a par meter and double check my lights.

Should also note I dosed about 400ml of magnesium to bump that up a bit will retest it again tonight. Gonna skip this week's waterchange as I have no nitrate and phosphate. Have the skimmer draining back into the sump to try and get detectable levels at least if it doesn't change I may take my gfo offline as well or at least reduce the media to try and increase phosphate and nitrate. Never thought I'd see zeros and now that I am I'm slightly worried.

400ml of magnesium sounds like a lot, especially because your tank doesn't look that large. You should remove some of the GFO media or change it less often and keep an eye on the trends to see if they rise. Then you can maintain the levels where you want them. I don't think having the skimmer flow back into the sump will increase nutrients because your media will absorb it all. Also, I don't recommend just removing all the GFO cold turkey. Corals like slow and steady changes. I honestly think you'll have negative effects if you were to just stop all the media at once.

Also, what does PE mean?

Polyp extension, and good advice. The brs calculator had it over 800ml. I did half cause I thought that was alot. The tank is a 100 gal cube. Keep it comming.

lol kidding with the joke, I put mushrooms on my main scape too. I do keep an eye on them though lol.

Tank looks nice, love the scape.

A little ashamed of my love of mushrooms and toadstool leathers. The one you circled there had a baby spring up far away on the left side of the tank I have no idea how it got there but figured if it made it let it stay.

The two islands/piles of Rock only actually touch at the base. The crevice between the two is where I try to hide my mushrooms

Yea I got some stinging my Cane coral ATM... but I like the mushroom more then the Candy Cane.... RIP Mr. Candy lol

For whatever reason they have been camra shy. Stock list is orange storm black storm pair of benghai cardinals, purple fire fish, Coral beauty, Tomeni tang, clown face goby. Looking to add a pair of ruby red dragnets, and maybe a trio of fathead anthieas not sure if I have the space for the anthieas yet will have to do more research first. Tank is 18 months old. Sps frags are about a month from battle coral, the green slimmer is around 3 months.

How long did it take until your coralline algae started growing?

It first started getting noticeable around 3 months. It really took off in the last 6 months or so though before I'd added very many coral.

What do you think contributed to your success with coralline algae? Did you add any coralline algae products? Did any of your rocks have some previous coralline?

Also, did you always maintain these low nutrient levels during your first 3 months?

There wasn't much competion for alk and calc the first year of my tank. What pieces showed up came on the hermit crabs and snails I think and when I started seeing it on the back wall I used to scrap it off with a razor blade letting it drift through the tank. I don't so that anymore though my wife prefers if I scrap the back glass clean.

The nutrients I've never had really low until now. Last week my phos was detectable but I only had an api test kit so .25. I got a hanna checker and gfo reactor starting this week and it has plummeted. To zero. The nitrates used to hover around 20 I didn't think gfo could decrease nitrates but I did start a refugium maybe 2 months back. Wife wants the dragonetes so I figured a refugium would help with pods. I'm growing sea lettuce and I think it's absorbing nutrients as fast as they are produced. I've increased feeding to 3 times a day and am hopeing more fish will help balance it out some.

I don't want to hijack this thread but can you give me the dimensions of your tank? I'm shocked to see it's a 100g. I've been lamenting that I don't have room for a larger tank but this looks compact for some reason. I'm hoping I can fit this in my house. Honestly I thought it was a 40g (like someone else commented). :-)
