Hey everyone.

I'm after people's opinions on using either a mesh guard or glass.

What's best if any and reasons for the answers please?

I moved away from glass tops years ago and have never looked back.
As far as what's best? Everybody likes something the next guy doesn't.
I've tried a few different ones from diy to high end poly carbonate top.
The one I'm currently using is the DD Jump Guard kit.
It is more than most diy kits, but it's pretty nice.

I'd go mesh. Glass has many negatives, including cutting down on par, trapping heat, and reducing oxygenation exchange. There are ways around these concerns, but for the average hobbyist, mesh is a much better solution.

I would do the mesh. Unless you have some sort of canopy to cover the glass lid, then I’d go with the mesh. As said above, water condensates on it and it cuts down par. I use a glass lid when I go on vacation because it helps with the evaporation but I take it off and replace with mesh when I’m home to monitor top-off. Honestly, I think a glass rim with a mesh center/ mesh portholes for light is the best of both worlds because it helps with evap and still lets in light but I haven’t done it yet because of COVID :(. Looking forward to it though!

Thanks, jump guard seems to be the one.
I'm currently using glass but have brought the mesh.
I do suffer with condensation I'm about to rent a PAR meter to see what my levels are have another thread up about that one

But think I'll be sticking with the mesh
