Jumpguard vs. Full Lid

Hi guys. Getting a lid/maybe a jumpguard for my first tank. Having trouble finding one for a good price.
Which is better? Jumpguards seem to be significantly cheaper, and kind of easier, as you don't have to remove a whole lid to get into the tank, but do they work? Are they substantial enough to stop fish jumping out?
I'm keen on a lid, but jumpguards (if they work) seem a better option.

Mesh lid kits are by far the best. Fish can't jump out (99% of the time, but I have a story about this lol), and you allow gas exchange

homedepot has some mesh kits, if the size of the tank is within their product range, very easy to use, and cheap

Bulk Reef Supply sells an excellent, relatively inexpensive feeding port you can add to your screen-mesh lid. It is a great convenience factor.

I didn't think about gas exchange - that's a good point. I'm looking at a mesh diy full-tank kit now, think I'll get it.

I had a mesh lid that came with an innovative marine tank. Miraculously, a small yellow coris wrasse jumped into one of the mesh holes, then must have proceeded to wiggle himself out above the lid, and then onto the floor

Wow! Sometimes it's like they're trying to die lol. Hopefully my fish won't meet the same fate!
