Just curious, how many of you have seen a fish jump, land on a hard floor (concrete or wood) , immediately put back in tank (within 30 seconds of jump) and live afterward?

just had a hawk fish jump on me, landed on concrete floor, the fall was probably 4-5 feet. Seems ok now, not sure what will transpire after that (broken bones, internal damage etc)

I just lost one Sunday. He jumped out at the LFS and they still said he's fine.. died today. I'll be calling tomorrow

It sucks

fish are pretty resilient I have had a couple jumpers that were fine once returned to the tank. I have a screen top now

How far was the fall? What type of fish?

did it act normal upon return or was something off?

Both. I have a cleaner wrasse that survived at least 3 plunges (onto carpet, mind you) without issue. But I had a leopard wrasse that jumped out and even after immediately replacing in the tank bit it a short time thereafter. I should also point out that 2 plunges by the cleaner wrasse were through a mesh lid, so those don't always guarantee keeping things in the tank, either.

I have several blue headed and skunk tilefish, and between them, they've launched themselves out of my 40 QT during feeding probably a dozen times. Amazingly, they all seem fine. They're all in the 180 display now, and seem to have settled down quite a bit.

I had many fish jump and I was there for a few of them and throw them back. They always live if you get them right away. I even had 2 of them jump into my hand.
