So...I have a couple of acros that changed color on me pretty significantly. Color change to green or in the case of my SSC brown. I am assuming that my nutrients are to high. Running ati 6 bulb 4 Blue+ 1 purple 1 aquaspecial. 10 inches off the surface of the water. Tested my phosphates with a hanna checker. Not running GFO or any phosphate remover. Tank is 50 gallon with a 25 gallon sump. Actual water volume is probably around 50 gallons.

Alk : 9.5
Cal : 400
MG : 1400
Salinity : 1.025
Po4 : .05 <----This I think might not actually be true. I have a tiny bit of GHA which is where I think my problem lies.
Nitrate : 5
Temp 77.5-79

Just coming to see what other people might be thinking. The pictures are before and after. 2 months in tank. I actually like the color of this acro now but think there is a nutrient problem.

Thanks

Also wanted to note that coralline algae is growing like crazy in my tank and thought I read somewhere that it wont grow with high phosphates. True?

May just need time. A little gha is not a huge concern. If it goes another month without coloring then maybe consider moving or possibly dropping your light an inch or 2? Takes a while for these things to color sometimes months so keep that in mind.

Interesting. Took about a month for this coral to turn into the green and purple in my tank. I actually kind of prefer what it looks like now anyway nice deep green and purple. Was just concerned that I might have a little to much po4. Tested again this morning before the lights kicked on and tested at .05 again.

The SSC on the other hand I will give a bit of time to get some nice encrusting going and see if it starts to color up....brown isnt so nice.

Thanks.

Yea it looks a bit bleached. Could it be too much light?

The top picture is the before picture. The 2nd picture is what it looks like in my tank now. The first one may have been getting to much light.

I would have to say the second pic is what it's supposed to look like. The first pic looks a bit bleached.
