Hello reefers ! So my son and I collect the giant pink barnacles that wash up on our local beach and use them as memory de orations around our beach house. Well I had a thought! So I hate frag racks and the look of them being in my tank for 4 weeks to a climate a new coral and thought, let's try this and see if it works and what others think about it..so here goes. Giant pink barnacles( shells only of course) used as frag safety until they are permanently placed..please be brutal with comments.

I have seen several frag racks that are molded into whatever shape it may be but these are real and match the setting great a d serve many purposes. In my case love of my reef, memories with my son, and stops the shrimp and snails from constantly agitating the. Urals places there and last but not least free from the ocean itself where the fake ones aren't lol

Ok. Quit being so darn cheap and buy a proper frag rack. Your set up looks like you are torturing barnacles by stuffing frag plugs in their mouths.
And next time you post a picture, don't use all blue.

You are welcome. :)

He said brutal, not snuff **** lol

I think it's cool . Also I'm sure the barnacle shells were empty. What's really cool is it was collected on a beach in Fernandina Beach !
If it washes up on the beach it's doomed anyway. If the sun doesn't dry it out the shore birds will pick it clean .

I guess I'll have to brush up on my sesame street, unless that's no longer pc
Lol

I stated clearly they were washed up and empty..I own a frag rack when e I know how tacky they look in a several thousand dollar reef tank,
IMO They look better than a frag rack even if they're washed up and tacky

A new day full of life and fun has arisen.
Let me try again with an answer to this question, and I will leave my gang-honed brutality off the reply.
I have had barnacles in my tank before a long time ago. They make great locations for frags especially for torch corals & branching hammers that have that natural long stem. As others noted the barnacle frag rack is a cool idea.
What I like even better for a chunk of barnacles is a barnacle blenny. They come in two species and they are one of my all-time favorite reef fishes.

Get a Barnacle blenny!
