I just added like let's say 5ml and now things don't look the best. The corals are mostly all closed up and Kenya tree not doing So hot. Fish seem to be okay. Any one have this experience. I just hope everything is fine my livestock is my life lol.

Water change, if your trying to look into cleaning up a system look up Prodibio Biodigest and Bioptim (or the Bioclean pack). It is bacteria in a glass vial that is meant for lowering nitrates and phosphates which will in turn get rid of algae. It cannot be overdosed and will not harm anything, ive been using it for years with great success! I use a lot more of their products then the ones I listed but those two are good for nutrient reduction and management. There isnt a lot of info out there on them but its a popular product overseas, but its the only form of carbon dosing i will ever do, as there is no need for worry of overdosing or harming inhabitants. Only thing that can happen is dual coral colors because it sucks all the nutrients out but IME it hasnt harmed a single thing in my tank. And an easy way to fix it if it does make colors start to fade is just to feed more

Okay well doesn't explain the affect on corals but I'm sure things will be fine. And thanks I will def look into that prodibo stuff ! And I have no algae really just want clearer water!

Yea I'm sorry cant really help with whats going on. If your nervous id just do a Water Change it isn't going to hurt anything, and will help if there is something wrong. But figured it'd be a free bump and i could tell you an alternate route that isn't as worrisome! Using prodibio youll noticeably see the water is clearer and also i only have to wipe my glass of film algae about once every 2 weeks and this is with feeding 5 times every day

More than likely your ph jumped up really fast and caused some stress.

that normal in my experience. I would wait until tomorrow before you do anything.. Did you use More than the recommended (or tested) dose?

I was dosing to kill small amounts of algae on rocks. And more for clear water and its a 36 galbowfront.

IMO, I would not dose hydrogen peroxide to a tank because it is an irritant to living organisms (obviously).

It has probably broken down within a few hours, but GAC will accelerate the process.

I would never dose more than 1ml per 10gal. of system volume, and I would only do that in desparate moments.

I can tell you from experience that overdosing hydrogen peroxide can be harmful. I managed to color morph a few emeralds on fire zoas with the stuff. Almost killed them. Most of my zoas were closed and or upset for a few days after my overdose. However, my SPS were almost wiped out. I turned a beautiful bright purple acro larger than a softball into a mess of brown looking twigs for about 1.5 months. The color transformation, in zoas and SPS alike, started happening within minutes of my adding the hydrogen peroxide to the water. It is very potent stuff in a fragile reef.

Again, 1cc per 10 gallons and you should be safe. Also, it does break down quickly, so you can dose twice a day, given ample space in between, of course.

I agree with Randy and would not dose hydrogen peroxide. Think of what it feels like on your skin, now think of swimming in it and breathing it. I have seen people crash and kill a 300 gallon SPS tank after dosing the 'recommended' dose. It really is just a bandade fix and doesn't fix what is causing the issues in the first place. With so many other options it is not needed. Just my 2 cents.

I got a dual reactor from brs n I use gfo n carbon in it and it's probable the best thing I ever did for my tank. I had quite a bit of Dino growing in the sump. Not even a month later n it's gone. The algae on my back wall started to recede as well as some bubble algae or maybe all the sudden my fish like bubble algae.

For carbon I would only use rox carbon.
This is why I recommend rox carbon

The gfo you can get on eBay for 15 bucks a pound.

Update on the tank: The so called stressed behavior must have been nothing but a hiccup. It achieved crystal clear water. Like never before! Don't know if I want to stop this or make it long term or spot treatment. Just wanted to fill everyone in. Also FYI I have no algae just small spots of cyano ONLY on the sand so this was simply a test of water clarity.

I dose my tank once every week for the last 7 months. I havent had any ill effects that i can see. Sure right after dosing zoas and palys do close up but in 5-10 min they open back up. I dose 1ml for 10gals. Really like the benefits of the hydrogen. hth

Have no doubt that the occupants of your tank were stressed by your dosing peroxide. Maybe only a "hiccup" this time...consider yourself lucky. I would listen to the advice you've been given by Randy and others.

Money cowries are excellent algae eaters, BTW.

I have succesfully dosed peroxide in my tank to get rid of Dino's (I am assuming that is what you are dosing for). My zoas and softies closed up for 10-15 minutes after each daily dose, but were fine after that. No need to stress.

Cheers!
