Hello everyone , I Just added Long nose hawk fish and the only fish showing aggression to it is my hog fish. The chart showed they were compatible anyone have any ideas on why my hog fish is chasing it round the whole tank ?

Hogs can be aggressive. How big is the tank, and what kind of hogfish?

Acclimation box is usually something to try, although it may be too late if the hawk is difficult to catch

It’s a Yellow Candy Hogfish.. I added the hawk fish last night and saw what the hog was doing to it this morning and I pulled it out of the tank it’s back in QT.

it even says peaceful on the description lol.

Is a 140 gallon with a bunch of hiding places and places to perch.

Online descriptions and charts aren’t everything. If two fish occupy similar spaces and are territorial, there are going to be disputes. They may figure it out, or maybe not. Give it a bit of time.

Hogfish are the total opposite of peaceful. They can be nasty buggers and usually don’t like new inhabitants once they’re established (Even more so when it comes to another Labrid).

How did this end up going? I'm thinking about getting a longnose hawkfish but I am also worried about my yellow candy hogfish being aggressive towards it.
