Greetings from the Emerald Isle! I've kept freshwater tropical fish for 40 years but I've been lurking on this forum for the last couple of years. I 'accidentally' acquired a used 260 gallon setup for ridiculously cheap which has been sitting empty in my living room for almost a year (it had a skeleton in it for Halloween and lights for Christmas). I'm hoping to run it with minimum maintenance using the Triton method; aragonite sand bed, live rock and a good sized refugium. I'll be sticking to softies with a few Euphyllia. I'll have very few fish and they will have a purpose and a clean-up crew. I'm setting up an ATO from an auto-filling 25g RODI reservoir and I'll set up a 60g water reservoir for occasional water changes - depending on the needs of using the Triton method. The only 'extras' I was going to use, apart from the protein skimmer, were bioblocks and carbon filter in the refugium and a UV filter. There are 2 flows and 1 return on both sides of the tank so two big returns in the refugium, 2 x Gyre 350s and a couple of circulation pumps in the tank. Plenty of lighting upstairs (700 watts of LED) and in the refugium. I was planning on covering most of the top of the tank with acrylic to reduce evaporation. The sump is 6 feet long and I can feed the air supply to the skimmer from outside the room, so hopefully that will allow for enough air exchange. If anyone has any pearls of wisdom before I get the tank wet, I would be delighted to hear them! I think I've exhausted all the BRS episodes on YouTube at this stage! Looking forward to diving in...
