Just Bought A Nikon D3100!!!! Reef Photography

I have the same camera and WOW your pictures come out a lot better then mine with the d3100.
What settings are you using I have it for 3 months and can't soot any good shots of the corals or the fish. That's why I went out and got a Pentax w60 underwater so I can get the close up shots.

Well here is what I do I shot in the sports mode the little guy thats running it allows you to take really quick snap shots thats what i use on all my fish and corals. On the stock lens i use the automatic mode with the VR enabled. I havent mastered setting everything up in a manual mode. I shoot all the pictures in RAW mode so i can load them in lightroom and make small tweaks to the colors.

Right now im not shooting with a tripod im sure if i was my pictures would be even clearer but i am happy with how they are turning out now. Just need to figure out how to manually set everything up

If you lower your iso your pics would look less grainy. Once you start using manual mode your pics would look even better.

im trying but when i switch to manual i can never get my camera to focus. am i doing something wrong?

Thanks I love the camera!!! Just updated my lights today using (2) metal halides with 4 t5s the previous pics were just 4 t5bulbs

I found if you use the Apture seting and play with the nob and adjust F/12-22 the pictures come out really good as well. Just thought u might wanna know. I would post them but I'm gonna get Photolight room I think this weekend haven't had the time to go and bye it yet.

Its Adobe photo lightroom 5 its to crop and edit the pictures a little. I heard a lot of good things about it. I believe they have it for both Mac & PC. you can look it up on Adobe.com

Nice thats what im using Adobe Lightroom its super nice im testing it now on the mac than going to test aperture but i really like LR. Except its 150 lol
