I have had a 55 and a 40 gallon tank for a little more than a year. This morning I found a listing on Craigslist for 150 gallon tank and pulled the trigger on it. My son, who is ten and got me started down this path, is going to freak! It is fully set up with around 150 pounds of live rock, a few corals and a clean up crew. There is some red slime algae, but other than that it seems very healthy. I will be moving it on Monday and am trying to decide whether to consolidate or have multiple tanks up and running. I am far from a wealthy guy and would like to put all of my fish money into making one tank look great rather than spreading it out between multiple tanks, but I have put so much effort into the other tank and it is finally starting to look really good so I hate to break it down at this point.

Anyways, just wanted to share as I am excited. Any info on moving a tank this size is appreciated. I will update with pictures and show the progress.

My vote is keep the other tank. It takes a while to get them that way and it's always a shame to break them down.

Congrats!!! You have to post some pictures! I just bought a 150 and should get it tuesday :) rather excited so I know how you feel.

Congratulations on the BIG upgrade.

I recommend keeping the other tanks, just until the 150 has stabalized. I've heard too many stories where a reefer upgraded tanks, moved all their coral in and killed half their stock.

Setup the 150gal, get the cyano taken care of and then slowly move your corals in.

Sounds sweet! You should start an official build thread in the Member Tanks forum and keep us updated on your progress!

Congrats on the upgrade!! I would also keep the other tank up to your new tank is settled and then make a decision
