Even though I’ve been in the hobby for a bout 5 years now, I have never owned a wrasse until today. Seen this beauty at my LFS, had to pick her up.

Any advise on keeping a happy wrasse

For anyone wondering, it is a pin tail fairy wrasse.

If you don't have one, put a canopy or screen cover over the tank. Wrasses very much enjoy carpet surfing.

You are also potentially limited to adding certain CUC and some shrimp. Wrasses will eat them.

I do have a glass canopy. I also have no shrimp because I have other fish that would eat them as well. Thank you for the advise.

Beautiful fish. I've just recently become obsessed with the fairy and flasher wrasse. I only have a male dot dash flasher, but I'm looking to add one more small flasher to my 30 cube. Look up all the posts evolved has posted, lots of great info on keeping multiple wrasse in the same system.

If its eating, then you've already more than halfway there. Usually the biggest obstacle with wrasses are getting them collected/shipped ok (which you've apparently avoided) and getting them to eat. After that, flukes are the next most common issue, but that can be easily taken care of with a couple of PraziPro treatments. Then its just a matter or replacing your snails every 8-12 months as they succumb to the wrasses appetite :D I've got five or so in my tank (flashers and leopards) and they are hardy once established. Last thing to keep in mind is if you want to add another flasher into the tank later on, you may need to invest in an acclimation box so the newcomer isnt bullied. This varies in intensity depending on the wrasse being introduced. I agree - reading up on @evolved articles on wrasses is a wealth of general information about keeping wrasses as well as some species specific information.

Do your leopard wrasses eat flatworms / nudibranchs? I just introduced my leopard wrasse and have a few red planaria sitting around.

I dont have either of those pests, so I couldnt say - but they are likely to :) They hunt pretty much nonstop.

I saw a white nudi on the glass the other day, immediately killed it. Wasn't sure if it was a berghia or a montipora eating but not taking any chances. My giant monti cap frag I got has bleached a lot..... not sure if it is lack of flow or if I have nudis eating it. Hence why I asked :) the planaria seem to be basically going away on their own.

Yes you do need to keep the top covered. As said they like to fly out of tanks. I had a few of these go into orbit and gave up, but they are beautiful fish. Good luck
