here is my problem. So about two months ago i had a Alk swing it went from 9dkh to 12dkh which at first i didnt think was a big deal but as i was trying to bring it back down all my acro started losing color and a few even RTNed. My levels are now stable again at 9.8dkh 440 cal 1400 mag. Nitrates are at .05, ammonia is at 0.0 and not sure what Po4 is at. My equipment: 65gallon display with a 30 gallon sump, 6bulb T5 (4 blue+, 1 aquablue special, 1 Atinic) Eshopps doser ( i run ocrans blend 1&2) Reef Octopus NWB 150, phosphate reactor with phosgaurd. My lights run 3bulbs from 9am to 9pm, the other 3 run from 11am to 5pm. I also dose red sea nopox 2ml every day (just started about 2 weeks ago) I do weekly Water changes of 20 gallons, I use Red Sea salt and mix to 1.025. The problems im having is all of my acro that have been in the system for awhile aren't coloring up, and every new acro whether its a frag or colony loses its color, every colony i have tryed adding had RTNed within a week. I have looked for red bugs or flatworms and have not seen either. I do using Revive or ME corals bug dip on all incoming Acros to my system . Just cant seem to get my sps dialed in. All of my chalice and other corals are exploding with growth, so i dont understand what im missing. thanks for any help you can offer.

Maybe your Acros are still recovering from the alk swing. Going from 9dkh to 12dkh is a really big swing and acros are by far more sensitive to alk swings

Yea that would answer why my existing acros are taking there time coloring back up. All the new frags and colonies i have tryed adding are doing it aswell

It seems every frag i have tryed adding starts to lose color around day 4 or 5 and colonies RTN in about a week

Sometimes it takes me 3-4 months to get a newly purchased piece to color up.

If you're not using dosing pumps or kalk then you should consider doing so if you really want to go the sps route. I'll assume you have an ATO.

I feed as well, reef roids, acropower and fish foods. The coral foods I only feed weekly.

Also consider letting your alk drift slowly down to 8-9, you might be running a low nutrient system but until you get a phos value you'll not know for sure.

It's hard to get it dialed in initially.

Ok so first the system has been running for a lil over a yr. I am using a dosing pump and have it on a 24hr. Cycle( meaning it doses a lil every hr to avoid swings) im not sure what my phosphates are at but will check into it. As for the new colonies being added, they are RTNing within a week and thats what i don't understand

I would look into where you're getting your corals from. Aquacultured versus wild collected.
I get a lil of both. I will say that aquacultured does seem to last a lil longer then the wild. I have a few wholesale accounts so i source coral from a few different places
