I have been letting my tank run for almost a month now, empty with only live sand. I just did a water test and in the pic are my results. As far as I know everything right of the ph should be 0. How can I have nitrates and nitrites in an empty tank? How to I rid them?

The results look about rite for sand only, your nitrites look a little high but until you get live rock in there I wouldn't worry about testing..

Your tank is going to cycle again when rock is added unless it's super clean cured fresh live rock and even with that you will get a mini cycle.

Just a tip.. when I get a test result that's out of line with what I believe it should be I always retest just to confirm results

Sounds good. I googled it first before I asked and I wanted a 2nd opinion being that every tanks different. I didn't think I had anything in there to cause nitrates. But, thanks again for the reply
