Found this crab in my display tank. Is it bad?

Cant see the tips of its claws but it is likely a xanthid crab of some sort and at best a scavenger and at worst a killer. Since its already out, I would sump it or dump it.

not the greatest picture, but assuming you didn't put it in there that would make it a hitchhiker and most hitchhiker crabs im aware of are not reef safe.

Just an FYI, a large number of xanthid crab species produce a powerful paralytic toxin known as TTX - I have no clue if they release it when they die but I do know that any fish who eats it will die from it!

Oh my I looked up xanthid crab and it definitely looks like one. Maybe I can find it a flush it
