So, I'm looking to set up my first tank in about 10 years soon, and I have a question about preparing a quarantine tank. I've just read the "Dos and Donts of Quarantine" thread in the Reef Discussion forum and one of the recommended approaches in that thread is to seed biomedia for the quarantine tank in the DT for a month or so before moving it to the QT. Is it feasible to take filter media for a HOB filter and put that into a brand-new cycling tank at the very beginning, then move that material to the QT in order to have the QT "cycled" and ready to go once the DT is done cycling?
