Just went to feed my fish and when I put the food in there my hand got buzzed. I didn’t even realize what happened at first but then realized I got shocked from the tank. My heater is real old so I’m guessing it’s that but is it safer to replace everything in there (it’s just two power heads and my heater). I’m completely Dense when it comes to testing electrical issues - should I call a professional fish service to figure it out? I’m about to set up my new 75 gallon in a week or so with all new equipment so this is a last minute nuisance. In my current 55 I have a canister and hang on back skimmer so I guess that could be culprits as well? Let me know your thoughts and advice - thanks.

Can be heater, powerhead or return pump.
Unplug heater and stick hand in again. If no buzz- heater. If still giving you that with heater unplugged- unplug next component until you dont get that buzz

hi start w heater ,do process of elimination, unplug all, check one at a time ,wearing shoes!! be sure to add ground probe to new system ;)

My friend actually said he thinks it’s the light. He said if you were feeding fish you probably didn’t put your hand in the water - but if your light is touching the top of the tank it could be causing a current. He’s had that happen to him before. Fish seem normal so I’m going to test the light as well.
