Hi All
Setting up a 25ish gal tank and its my first. I literally have no idea what I am doing however searching the hell out of it. Just picked up some live rock at the crazy price of USD$4 for 8 pieces od about 20lbs. I was wondering if anyone could have a look and see if they know if the life is good or evil... Another question I have was that on a youtube BRS video they said dont get cheato from "a friend" as you get undesirable pests. My question is, in Bali you cant buy sterile chaeto, and if you buy live rock from the LFS and it is in the same tank/water as the chaeto will it make a difference? I will post better pics tomorrow as there are a few sponge type things also
Cheers

Overall, with quality live rock from the ocean, the good outweighs the bad because of the high level of biodiversity (in particular the biodiversity of the microbiome). You want as much "life" in the live rock as possible because it supports higher life forms in many different ways. While you may pick up a hitchhiker or two, the diverse bacteria and microfauna present on the rock will give you a great headstart on your tank!
